The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at Rollins College invites applications for a full-time appointment as lecturer. This is a one-year, renewable appointment to begin August 1, 2017.
Candidates must have at least an M.A. and preferably a PhD in Arabic, linguistics, Middle Eastern Studies or relevant field, native or near/native language skills in Arabic with additional knowledge of one or more dialects, training in second language pedagogy, experience teaching at the US university level, and demonstrated ability to develop innovative second language curricula. Teaching load is 4-4, with half the courses in Arabic, and the remaining courses contributing to the Middle Eastern and North African Studies minor.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- teaching beginning and intermediate level classes in Arabic
- tutoring students of Arabic, including independent studies
- teaching four classes per year for the Middle Eastern and North African Studies program in the candidate's area of expertise
