Position Summary:

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Coordinates all College activities around PCI compliance and completes the annual attestation. Maintains knowledge of all changes to PCI regulations and works with impacted departments to ensure the College meets those regulations.
  • Responsible for all Point of Sale (POS) devices used on campus and as a component of the off-campus dining program. Determines, in conjunction with departments, the capabilities required in the POS devices and the appropriate form factors for those devices. Keeps devices in good working order, manages all repairs and determines when devices are end of life.
  • Serves as the primary software specialist in the Blackboard Transact system used as the software on POS devices. Works with system administrator to update the software as appropriate. Has expert knowledge of the software, able to program the system and understand its reporting structure. Has an ability to run reports from the system and create new reports, as necessary.
  • Works with the Finance and Bursar’s Office to reconcile all R-Card transactions within the Blackboard Transact system on a schedule determined by the Bursar.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains PCI-compliant policies and procedures for all offices and groups that accept credit cards and use POS devices. Ensures each office/group follows their specific procedures and trains all new office staff on the procedures.
  • Works with the Campus Safety Office to maintain the physical security of all POS devices and physical network devices that carry credit card information.
  • Develops audit procedures to ensure all departments with PCI responsibilities are performing their functions to maintain compliance. This includes auditing the cardholder network and the logging procedures in Information Technology, the access control procedures used by Campus Safety and the credit card acceptance procedures of all departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • A College degree and a minimum of four years of work experience is preferred. Experience maintaining hardware and software is essential, as is an understanding of databases and how reports are generated from these databases.
  • Possess a strong understanding of hardware and software, especially in the area of Point of Sale devices.
  • Understanding of financial accounting principles in budget reconciliation.
  • Strong desire to keep abreast of new technologies and willingness to learn PCI standards.
  • Strong analytical skills, including ability to gather and analyze information and develop appropriate recommendations for action.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a professional manner with an emphasis on service quality.
  • Ability to multitask, strong written & verbal communication skills; ability to communicate and coordinate with others on varied and occasionally complex issues in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty and staff who have various levels of technical background and understanding.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail in daily functions and communication in order to effectively develop, compile, and present information.
  • Knowledge of College environment, departments, procedures, and policies.

Work Environment:

  • Office environment, with some interaction with off-campus vendors at their businesses.
