Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of the Tutoring & Writing Center, the AD of Tutoring Services shares responsibility for the operation of the Tutoring & Writing Center (TWC) with a specific focus on course-related content tutoring services, and on incorporating technology in the services and administration of the TWC. The AD teaches credit bearing courses training peer educator content tutors. The AD works closely with the Director of the TWC to hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the work of a combined peer educator staff of over one hundred peer educators in tutoring and writing. Reporting to the Director, the AD for Tutoring Services has primary administrative responsibility for the daily operations of the TWC.

Essential Job Functions


  • TPJ 106 and 111. Two one-credit courses per semester to train tutors.

Administration of TWC

  • Working under the overall direction of the Faculty Director, the AD:
  • Consults with faculty to identify and recruit over 60 peer educator content tutors.
  • Hires all peer educator content tutors.
  • Works closely with Instructional Design & technology staff to develop an ongoing program of appropriate information technology tutoring for Rollins students.
  • Evaluates all peer educator content tutors.
  • Assesses quality of TWC services and effectiveness in achieving learning outcomes.
  • Works closely with faculty and with Instructional Design & Technology staff to develop appropriate technology training for Rollins students.
  • Works with Information Technology staff to maintain and develop the automation of internal operations of the TWC including appointment scheduling, payroll, and evaluation.
  • Works closely with Library Director and Olin Library Office & Facilities Coordinator to maintain and improve space, furnishing, and equipment for TWC.
  • Coordinates TWC online appointment/scheduling with Head of Circulation.
  • Works closely with Library Digital Specialist to maintain and develop TWC web presence.
  • Oversees TWC social media activity.
  • Manages quantitative and qualitative data to produce reports for internal and external use.
  • Prepares and presents reports and presentations on the TWC program as required.

Professional Development and Service

  • Continued and growing membership and activity in appropriate professional organizations
  • Continuing education in an appropriate area
  • Service within TWC, the library, and the wider college
  • Performing related duties as assigned  

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Education, Instructional Design, or Instructional Technology) or a broadly related field.
  • Experience working in academic support services as well as training and supervising peer educators.
  • A demonstrated commitment to working with diverse students in an interdisciplinary and multicultural academic environment. 
  • Experience working one-on-one with students in academic support services.
  • Proficiency in Adobe products, knowledge and experience with e-portfolios, video production.
  • Understanding of the multi-modal nature of contemporary technology based communication.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time; ability to manage projects through to completion.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty across disciplines
  • Ability to supervise staff and student employees.
  • An appreciation for the liberal arts.
  • Ability to manage and lead change in a rapidly developing academic environment.
