Position Summary:

  • Perform basic and routine HVAC maintenance, service, and repair of college facilities equipment and systems.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting air conditioning, heating, and ventilation equipment.
  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing motors and contactors
  • Installing and repairing duct work
  • Service and maintain cooling towers
  • Low voltage wiring and control knowledge
  • Maintain and repair gas fired boilers
  • Performing related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school education plus two years of additional business, technical or college training or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Requires four to six years of job related experience
  • CFC recovery license or ability to acquire one
  • License preferred
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment installation and maintenance
  • Knowledge of single and three phase circuits from 120-480 volts
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment needed for major and minor repairs of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment
  • Knowledge of repairing ice machines, walk-in freezers and walk-in coolers, reach-in refrigerators, reach-in freezers 
  • Ability to diagnose defects and failures of motors and equipment
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to perform strenuous work, including the use of ladders and man lifts while wearing a safety harness
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints
  • Ability to use and wear proper PPE or safety equipment

Work Environment:

  • Work requires physical strain including bending, lifting, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Overtime may be required as needed.
  • Uniforms provided

  • As a condition of employment in this position, the incumbent will be subject to call outside of regular hours to respond to emergencies, including the preparation and maintenance of College facilities, grounds, systems and services during inclement weather crises
