Position Summary:

This position is designed for a full time graduate student who has demonstrated exceptional responsibility, leadership, interpersonal skills, and an interest in residence life.  The GA will work in the areas of residential life, first year experience, orientation, staff development for RAs and Peer Mentors. The GA will be able to develop in several areas including: leadership development, marketing, budgeting, assessment, mentoring, project management and office administration.

Anticipated Employment Dates: July 20, 2020 - May 21, 2021

Primary responsibilities and expectations include:

  • This position will recruit, advise and lead a group of 8-10 RAs to the Florida Resident Assistant Seminar in early Spring 2021 semester
  • This position will help plan and assist in coordination of all RLE hands-on-deck events including fall/spring opening and closing, assessment initiatives and projects, RA and PM recruitment and training, semester fire drills and other duties as assigned

*This position has the potential to be a live-on position in an on-campus studio apartment with additional duty and risk management responsibilities. More information can be shared during interview process.

Preferred Qualifications and Skill Sets:

  • Full-time graduate student in an approved graduate program – exceptions made on a case by case basis
  • Abide by and enforce all College regulations as outlined in the Code of Community Standards and the Guide to Residential Hall Living
  • Act as a role model and maintain a schedule which permits the staff member to be available to the students in the hall
  • Any additional employment must be approved by his or her supervisor before an employment offer is accepted

Education Requirement:

The incumbent must be actively enrolled in a graduate degree seeking program in order to qualify for this position and must remain actively enrolled in a graduate degree seeking program for the duration of their employment in this position. This assistantship is intended for currently enrolled graduate students or individuals whose enrollment into a graduate degree program is imminent (E.g. student has been accepted into a graduate degree program and is awaiting the start classes in the immediate future). Incumbent should be seeking an experiential opportunity in their degree field which may or may not be a requirement for graduation.
