Position Summary:

The Department of History at Rollins College invites interested individuals (either with a PhD or ABD) to apply for an adjunct faculty position in U.S. History for the 2021-2022 academic year (Fall 2021 and Spring 2022). This position will teach two courses in the Fall, with one course repeated in the Spring.

This is a continuous recruitment effort to develop an applicant pool that can fill in on an as-needed basis. Applications, letters of interest, and other supported materials will be reviewed as positions become available.

Teaching responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate students in a specific field of expertise
  • Developing and managing the class syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets department and college standards
  • Planning and creating lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments
  • Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams
  • Assessing grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments and examinations
  • Collaborating with department colleagues on course curriculum
  • Advising students on how to be successful in class
  • Late afternoon and/or evening assignments will be required as part of this appointment

Minimum Qualifications and Education: 

  • Ph.D. or ABD in U.S. History
  • Applicants with undergraduate teaching experience preferred
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have the ability to teach in-person
