Position Summary:

The Rollins College Social Impact Hub (the Hub) is seeking a Graduate Assistant to aid in continued growth and development at Rollins.

Anticipated Employment Dates: May 2021 - May 31, 2022

Additionally, we may provide opportunities to reach outside your immediate role to develop a deeper level of understanding in multiple areas of social innovation and higher education administration so you can step into your career after graduation with the knowledge and skills to be successful.

The GA will work closely with the Staff Director and other team members on the following:

  • Serve as a leader of the undergraduate student employees and is the person in charge in the absence of permanent staff. The GA should provide guidance to student staff members as needed as they plan and execute their individual responsibilities. The GA should promote and support student development and growth, serving as a mentor for other students in areas such as business, ideation, communication, public speaking, writing, and ethics.
  • Proofreading of all departmental communication, including event calendar entries, emails to community partners/judges, social media posts, etc. for grammatical accuracy and to ensure alignment with the SI Hub mission.
  • Speaking on behalf of the Social Impact Hub at various campus settings, such as during class visits, meetings, welcome introductions at programs, etc. as needed. When speaking on behalf of the Hub, the GA should be knowledgeable about all events and be able to give a summary of each as well as a general timeline of these events.
  • The GA is the designated responder to All emails to this address should be answered within 24 working hours, with guidance from permanent staff where necessary, and permanent staff copied to ensure these emails are answered.
  • Work with Staff Director on Assessment throughout the year, with reflection, advice for improvement and feedback, & brainstorming solutions on current programming and practices.
  • Facilitation of Social Impact Hub modules, including design thinking methodology, Introduction to the SDGs, and Designing Your Life, across campus.
    Attendance, organization, and leadership of team meetings, checking & adding to agendas (weekly and as needed).
  • Attendance at monthly Changemaker Planning Committee & Community Alignment meetings as well as semesterly GA meetings.
  • Coordination of monthly reviews with undergraduate students.
  • Office coverage as needed and other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Website maintenance as needed within Rollins’ templates.

The Hub also serves faculty and staff wishing to expand their knowledge, research, and community connections in these areas. Minimum Qualifications and Skill Sets:

  • Experience in/with social innovation and social entrepreneurship, United Nations SDGs, and human-centered design thinking required.
  • Familiarity with Rollins College campus resources, departments, and student organizations preferred.
  • Previous experience mentoring, coaching, or advising others in an official capacity preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure & adjust schedule to accommodate pressing deadlines.
  • Comfort with entrepreneurial setting, out-of-the-box thinking, and flexibility required.
  • Passion for mentoring students required.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and Google Drive skills.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Strong Canva and Adobe skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Excel written and oral communication and time/project management skills.

Education Requirement:

Candidates interested in this role must be actively enrolled in a Rollins College or UCF graduate degree-seeking program during the Fall 2021/Spring 2022 semester and must remain actively enrolled in a graduate degree-seeking program for the duration of their employment in this position, maintaining a graduate student cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Position Information: 


  • Bi-weekly pay rate of $12.50/hr. over the academic semester.
  • $500 meal plan for the academic year.
  • Free campus staff parking privileges.
  • Opportunities for further professional development, such as conference attendance including travel accommodations where appropriate.

Scheduled Hours

  • The GA is responsible for dedicating 20 hours to this position per week, with preference for in-office availability three days per week.
  • During normal College business hours, based on department needs and student schedule. Three hours of required fixed-time weekly meetings (1 hr staff meeting, 2 hrs work-study group hours).

Work Environment

  • Office environment, with accommodations for remote work as necessary.
  • Fast-paced, ever changing environment.
