Position Summary:

The Rollins College Admission Office is seeking a Senior Assistant Director with a positive, can-do attitude, and is a strong relationship builder, to join their team! Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Admission, the Senior Assistant Director aids in all aspects of the admission process from initial recruitment of prospective students to the review and assessment of applications. In addition to conducting large and small group information sessions on the Rollins campus, counselors travel to meet with students, parents, and guidance counselors. Counselors participate in the admission selection process and host on campus events for prospective and accepted students. The Senior Assistant Director will also be responsible for and have oversight over at least one major component of the recruitment plan, and this role will also supervise admission staff and/or student ambassadors.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Traveling to designated domestic territories for up to a period of six weeks, to recruit prospective students through college fairs and high school visits as well as build relationships with guidance counselors.
  • Conducting large and small group information sessions for prospective students and parents.
  • Supervise and train a group of admission staff and/or student ambassadors.
  • Have responsibility and oversight over one or more components of the recruitment plan (ie, campus events, student workers, local recruiting, etc.).
  • Participating in the evaluation and selection of candidates for admission by reviewing and evaluating applications and own a recruitment region and corresponding file reading load.
  • Communicating with prospective students, parents, and guidance counselors by phone and email to guide them through the admission process.
  • Attending and working all admission events (open houses, admitted student events, scholarship weekends); some evening and weekend work is required.
  • Overseeing and participating in special programs and projects.
  • Conducting interviews with admission candidates.
  • Developing recruitment strategies to target specific student populations.
  • Performing related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • At least three years experience in comparable educational setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of college admission processes and admission experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Rollins College and Winter Park/Orlando area strongly preferred.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain an Florida driver's license within 30 days of accepting the job, and acceptable MVR are required.
  • High level proficiency in conversational, written, and oral presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word.
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
  • Exceptional organizational and time/project management skills with the ability to prioritize, balance, and possess the aptitude for detail oriented tasks
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a proactive approach to achieving goals.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills to represent the College in a positive way to diverse populations.
  • Must have the ability to work independently, as well as with team of colleagues, possessing strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • A commitment to diversity and an ability to work constructively with a variety of constituents.
Work Environment:

 

  • Campus-based position working in an office environment.
  • Work requires visual strain, use of computer
  • Ability to travel extensively by car or plane for recruitment,  at minimum 6-8 weeks out of the year is required. Heavy travel season is typically in the Fall traveling, up to 30% of time during the year, with flexibility to travel additionally when needed.
  • Evenings and weekends as appropriate and required (i.e.: evening recruitment events, weekend scholarship events, open house events for prospective and admitted students, etc.)
