Position Summary:

The Department of English at Rollins College invites interested individuals to apply for adjunct faculty positions in Fall 2021 and Spring 2022. Qualified applicants will be dedicated to innovative teaching, eager to build relationships, and welcome to opportunities that will allow them to work with a diverse campus and community.

This is a continuous recruitment effort to develop an applicant pool that can fill in on an as-needed basis. Applications, letters of interest, and other supporting materials will be reviewed as positions become available.

The Department of English serves both traditional and non-traditional students and consists of an English major, English minor, Creative Writing minor, and Professional Writing minor.  The department is currently searching for applicants in the following areas of specialization: Composition and Academic Writing.

Teaching responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate students in a specific field of expertise
  • Developing and managing the class syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets department and college standards
  • Planning and creating lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments
  • Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams
  • Assessing grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments and examinations
  • Collaborating with English Department colleagues on course curriculum
  • Advising students on how to be successful in class
  • Late afternoon and/or evening assignments will be required as part of this appointment

Minimum Qualifications and Education: 

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in the area of teaching is required for teaching in undergraduate programs.
  • Previous college teaching experience is also required.  
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have the ability to teach in-person.
