The Institutional Advancement, Development Team is seeking a Director of Development, Regional to join their team! The Director of Development, Regional develops and implements fund raising programs and outreach for major gifts to the College, in specified region(s) of the country and/or internationally.

Primary Job 
Responsibilities:

  • Manages a portfolio of major gifts prospects with a focus on sound fundraising practices using metrics for accountability measurements to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Understands current funding priorities of the College through frequent interface with the Associate Vice President for Advancement and other advancement and development colleagues.
  • Prepares briefing materials, solicitation strategies, and proposals for fundraising calls.
  • Solicits major gifts in a geographical region, working with donors and volunteers, Rollins administrators and other department or program colleagues.
  • Raises major gifts to fund College programs and enhance development efforts of schools and units, with an emphasis on the priorities of the College.
  • Promotes positive donor relations for the College as a whole.
  • Plans and executes events and programs in support of development activities.
  • Proactively engages volunteers in a variety of roles, including identification, cultivation, solicitation and events.
  • Interacts with internal contacts such as Deans, Directors, faculty, officers and other Development staff to consult on College needs, formulating gift strategies and identifying potential donors.
  • Evaluates various gift opportunities and giving vehicles. General knowledge of gift vehicles: Cash, securities, real estate, in-kind, tangible personal property, and planned gift vehicles such as trusts, bequests, and annuities.
  • Performs other relevant departmental duties as assigned.
Minimum 
Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least three (3) years of fundraising experience or comparable experience in sales or business development.
  • Demonstrated understanding and successful implementation of institutional relationship management and solicitation strategies for major gift level philanthropy.
  • Demonstrated experience in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gifts, preferably at an academic institution.
  • Ability to conduct personal solicitation of five- and six-figure major gifts, and interact with a diverse and sophisticated constituency.
  • Demonstrated leadership, take initiative, and exercise good judgement. Strong attention to detail, well organized, excellent at managing deadlines, and a proactive problem solver.
  • Ability to work with colleagues across the College and to establish and foster relationships that encourage a collaborative work environment to reach shared goals.
  • Ability to analyze giving data, identify trends and opportunities, and implement solicitation strategies.
  • Ability to handle confidential information, maintain and update files with high degree of accuracy, and sensitivity to the importance of stewardship and donor relations.
  • Computer fluency including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn and utilize Ellucian Banner database, Argos reporting, and other technology/systems.
  • Demonstrated appreciation for private liberal arts education.
  • Self-motivated, results oriented, and able to set priorities and work on numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, analytical and negotiating skills to relate to donors, volunteers and colleagues. Thorough
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and grammar.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion.
Preferred 
Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
Work Environment:

 

  • Campus-based position working in an office environment.
  • Must be able and willing to maintain an aggressive travel schedule across the United States to meet donors within portfolio. Expectation is 60% of time will be spent out-the-door making 120-140 face-to-face donor visits and 180-240 significant interactions per year.
  • Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends for Advancement events throughout the year, including Alumni Weekend, Family Weekend, and select board meetings.
