Position Summary:

The Center for Leadership & Community Engagement (CLCE) seeks an organized, dependable, and creative graduate student who will advance the office’s mission of providing intentional and meaningful learning opportunities that prepare students for responsible leadership and global citizenship.

Reporting to a full-time staff member of CLCE, the graduate assistant will join a team of educators with collective oversight for community endeavors and leadership development for our campus community. This position requires significant collaboration and partnerships with many College divisions, including faculty, advising, athletics, campus safety, scheduling and event services, wellness, residential life, inclusion and campus involvement, advancement, community standards and responsibility, and alumni affairs. The Administrative and Marketing Support CLCE Graduate Assistant will be immersed in hands-on experiences that focus on the theory and practice of both academic and student affairs, as it relates to fostering active citizenship in others. The Administrative and Marketing Graduate Assistant will assist in creating a welcoming environment through general office support of programming, administrative duties, advising undergraduate students, marketing and social media, and facilitating opportunities for all students to engage on-campus through leadership and community engagement facilitations/activities/experiences. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities include:

  • Projects & Tasks
    • Create and support student development and growth as it relates to leadership development and community engagement.
    • Support the CLCE team with office and administrative tasks.
    • Create a mission aligned environment withing the Center for Leadership & Community Engagement.
    • Support immediate faculty, staff, and student needs within CLCE.
    • Assist in the management of student work studies (6-8 students) and other student staff.
    • Assist in planning and executing largescale on-campus leadership and community engagement programs (Politics on Tap, Rita Bornstein, Days of Service, Admission panels, Family Weekend, Welcome Week, and SPARC, etc.).
    • Promote and support student employees’ professional and personal development and growth including the annual hiring of student leaders called Join the Crew.
    • Support collaborative projects and assignments with departments within the Engagement team, Admission team, and Student Affairs.
    • Help facilitate meetings regarding such programs and be an active participant in the planning and organization of these efforts.
    • Collaborative oversight of Give Pulse platform for CE data collection.
    • Active lead for CLCE’s utilization of GetInvolved and the campus calendar
    • Support with financial and budget needs.
    • Create and establish sustainable professional relationships with local non-profit organizations to ensure continued growth of mutually beneficial partnerships.
    • Design work for collateral (event & program flyers, brochures, posters, etc. …) and signage. In doing so, serve as the lead for marketing screens for CLCE within Kathleen W. Rollins Hall.
    • Manage the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement social media page.
    • Co-lead on CLCE website maintenance.
    • Develop a plan focused on elevating attendance and engagement for CLCE events.
    • Act as a representative and resource of the work of the Center for Leadership & Community Engagement, answering questions and providing information to any interested parties, in addition to being the lead for tabling at Experience Rollins.
  • General Office Expectations 
    • Maintain Outlook Calendar and respond to emails in timely, professional manner
    • Serve as a mentor and resource to all students across campus.
    • Represent CLCE at campus events i.e. first-year orientation, experience Rollins, etc.
    • Assist in supporting, advising, and supervising CLCE student employees.
    • Track participant(s) for all events, initiatives, etc. in the CLCE Dashboard.
    • Assess CLCE programming and complete grant reports.
    • Familiarize yourself with CE Best Practices and Leadership Development theories.
    • Become well-versed in the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
    • Conduct and/or attend Community Partner site visit(s).
    • Attend all CLCE Team meetings and retreats (including student retreats).
    • Attend VPSA Trainings and Retreats.
    • Attend “All Hands-on Deck” campus-wide events (may fall on evenings/weekends).
    • Maintain a professional office space and be mindful of shared spaces i.e. cleanliness.
    • Effectively utilize Office 365, Adobe Creative programs, Zoho, Trello, Canva, Foxlink, etc.

  • Experience in event management.

Minimum 
Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Masters degree in student personnel/student affairs, counseling, higher education, or related field. *Candidates may be considered if they are pursuing continuing education i.e. certificate programs.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to student involvement, have significant experience in working with diverse populations in a collegiate setting and demonstrate an understanding of student development theory.
  • Creative, self-motivated, self-driven, have a healthy regard for fostering community development, and a passion for working with students.
  • Possess a strong desire to work collaboratively with staff and faculty across campus, be willing to challenge themselves and others in intellectual growth and development.
  • Has a strong interest/experiences in leadership development, community engagement, and social justice.
  • Possess strong facilitation skills and significant experience in leadership education and development.
  • Demonstrate skills in effective communication, supervision, program development with measured results. Demonstrate competence in mentoring and advising.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and promote a positive and engaging customer service environment.
  • Experience or willingness to learn marketing; messaging and developing written content for public consumption.
  • Knowledge of Excel and Outlook.
  • Abide by Rollins policies and procedures.

Education
Requirement:

The incumbent must be actively enrolled in a graduate degree seeking program or continuing education in order to qualify for this position and must remain actively enrolled for the duration of their employment in this position. This GA role is intended for currently enrolled graduate students or continuing education or individuals whose enrollment into a graduate degree program is imminent (E.g. student has been accepted into a graduate degree program and is awaiting the start classes in the immediate future). Incumbent should be seeking an experiential opportunity in their degree field which may or may not be a requirement for graduation.

Anticipated Employment Dates:

  • July15, 2022 – May 31, 2023 (start date flexible)
  • This position will work 20 hours per week -> 15 hours per week are in office with an additional 5 hours dedicated to student org meetings/events, including some nights and weekends.

  • Bi-weekly pay rate of $15.00/hr. over the academic semester
