Position Summary:

The Rollins Wellness Center seeks energetic, self-motivated graduate students who will support the implementation and evaluation of harm reduction strategies within the Wellness Center and Rollins College Campus. This role involves working closely with staff, students, student groups and community partners to reduce the adverse consequences associated with substance use and other high-risk behaviors. The GA will assist in program development, data collection and analysis, community outreach, and direct service delivery.

Anticipated Employment Dates: August 26, 2024 – May 6, 2025

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of harm reduction programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, students and student groups; to identify and address the needs of the Rollins community.
  • Participate in the creation and distribution of educational materials and resources.
  • Conduct data collection activities, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups, as needed.
  • Analyze data to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide support and information to clients regarding harm reduction practices.
  • Distribute harm reduction supplies, such as naloxone kits, clean needles, and safer sex supplies.
  • Assist clients in accessing services and resources, including healthcare, housing, and social services.
  • Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance service delivery and support.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training sessions for faculty, staff, students and student groups.
  • Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in harm reduction.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities and client interactions.
  • Assist with grant writing and reporting as needed.
  • Receive weekly one on one supervision

Position Information:

Supervisor Name and Department: Renee Treviranus, Rollins College Wellness Center

Scheduled Hours: Graduate assistant is expected to maintain a 20 hours/week work schedule. The final schedule will be determined by the student's academic schedule and department needs.

Work Environment: Office environment requiring sitting for extended periods of time, traveling across campus, and occasions bending/lifting/twisting.

Pay: The hourly pay rate is $15/hr. and there are no benefits associated with this position.

Frueauff Requirements:

Students hired into Frueauff- Graduate Assistant Student Positions, are required to complete the following career development requirements:

  • Attend 2 Career Center events/workshops/programs per semester
  • Complete Fall Frueauff Check-In appointment with Student Employment Graduate Assistant by 09/30, or
  • within two weeks post hire
  • Complete Initial Learning Reflection in MyRollins by 09/30
  • Participate in Frueauff Annual Report by 02/15
  • Complete Resume appointment with CCLP staff and update resume by 03/31
  • Complete LinkedIn review with CCLP staff and update LinkedIn profile by 03/31
  • Complete a Mock Frueauff Experience Interview with CCLP staff by 03/31
  • Complete End of the Year Learning Reflection in MyRollins by 03/31

Eligibility and Application Process:

Frueauff – Graduate Assistant positions are open only to Mental Health Counseling graduate students who are eligible for work study (see Financial Aid Letter) and/or international students (F1, J1 visa & DACA). Please address eligibility questions to and/or Ineligible students will not be considered, and their applications will be DECLINED. Pending hire offer, new student employees (who have not worked at Rollins within the last 2 years) will need to complete new hire documents.

Candidates interested in this role must be actively enrolled or incoming Rollins Mental Health Counseling graduate students. Please be aware that due to the confidential nature of the work taking place at the Wellness Center, the department cannot employ Rollins undergrad alumni who graduate within the last 7 years.

Qualifications and Skill Sets:

  • Candidates must be actively enrolled in the Rollins Mental Health Counseling program and must remain actively enrolled in the program for the duration of their employment in this position.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to harm reduction principles and a non-judgmental approach to working with individuals who use substances.
  • Exhibit unconditional positive regard for students.
  • Demonstrate strong time management and organizational abilities with attention to detail.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Canva and Adobe Sign.
