Are you passionate about fostering a sense of belonging and spiritual well-being within the Muslim community? Rollins College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to serve as a spiritual leader, mentor, and advocate for our Muslim students, faculty, and staff.
In this part-time role, you will provide pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and religious programming, working closely with the Dean of Religious & Spiritual Life and other staff to support interfaith engagement and promote inclusion. Your efforts will help integrate Muslim perspectives into the broader religious and spiritual life on campus.

Primary Job Functions:
|
- Spiritual Support
- Provide individual and group pastoral care, counseling, and support to Muslim students, faculty, and staff.
- Offer religious and spiritual guidance, including potentially leading Friday Jumu’ah prayers, organizing Iftar meals during Ramadan, and supporting the observance of key Islamic holidays and events.
- Be available for crisis support, life-cycle events, and confidential counseling for members of the Muslim community.
- Programming and Leadership
- Develop and implement programs, activities, and events that cater to the religious, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of the Muslim community, such as workshops, lectures, prayer services, and retreats.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Religious & Spiritual Life to integrate Muslim life into broader campus initiatives, including interfaith programs and dialogues.
- Work with other student organizations, faculty, and staff to create opportunities for interfaith engagement and community building.
- Community Engagement and Outreach
- Serve as the primary liaison between Rollins College and local Muslim organizations, mosques, and community leaders to strengthen partnerships and foster a supportive environment for Muslim students.
- Promote an understanding of Islam and Muslim life on campus by facilitating educational programs, lectures, and workshops for the broader college community.
- Advocacy and Inclusion
- Advocate for the needs of the Muslim community on campus, working closely with college leadership to address issues related to diversity, inclusion, and religious accommodations.
- Collaborate with the Muslim Student Union (MSU) and Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) to support the spiritual, cultural, and social needs of students, providing mentorship, facilitating events, and advocating for their well-being within the broader campus community.
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and management of the Muslim Life budget in collaboration with the Dean of Religious & Spiritual Life.
- Manage communications, including event promotion, newsletters, and social media, related to Muslim Life.
- Maintain records of participation, programming, and feedback to help assess and improve support for Muslim life on campus.
- Interfaith Leadership
- Participate in interfaith dialogues, panels, and collaborative programming to build understanding and respect among different religious and philosophical traditions on campus.
- Assist in leading interfaith initiatives, including service projects, peace-building efforts, and campus-wide religious and cultural celebrations.

Minimum Qualifications & Education:
|
- Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Studies, Divinity, Religious Studies, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Formal religious training in Islam, with certification or ordination as an Imam or equivalent recognized religious leader within the Muslim tradition.
- At least 3-5 years of experience providing spiritual care or religious leadership in a higher education setting, mosque, or comparable environment.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting the spiritual and developmental needs of Muslim students and young adults.
- Experience planning and executing religious and interfaith programs, events, and services.

Preferred Qualifications:
|
- Master’s Degree.
- Experience working in higher education or with college-age students in a pastoral or chaplaincy role.
- Knowledge of Arabic or other languages relevant to the study of Islamic texts and traditions.
- Certification in mental health first aid or equivalent crisis response training.
|

- Deep understanding of Islamic theology, practices, and traditions.
- Ability to effectively communicate and teach these to students of varying knowledge levels.

- Excellent pastoral care and counseling abilities.
- Authentic and compassionate connection with students, faculty, and staff.
- Skilled in interfaith dialogue and building bridges across religious, cultural, and ideological divides.
- Leadership and Organizational Skills:
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple programs, events, and initiatives.
- Proven leadership in mentoring and guiding students in personal and spiritual growth.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for delivering sermons, lectures, and public talks.
- Proficiency in social media and digital communications to engage with the campus community.
- Collaborative Spirit:
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of colleagues, including students, faculty, staff, and local religious leaders.
- Commitment to a pluralistic and multi-faith environment that respects and supports all religious and spiritual identities.

Additional Position Details:
|
- This is a part-time, 12-month appointment scheduled to work 20 hours per week.
- Anticipated schedule includes working Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Flexible schedule or overtime may be required to meet business needs during evenings or weekends.
- This is a campus-based position with flexibility for some remote administrative tasks. In-person presence is required for events, student meetings, and religious services.
- The appointment is anticipated to run through November 2027 and continuation beyond this date will be contingent upon funding and operational needs of the College.
