Job Summary:
|
The Rollins College Psychology department is seeking a service-oriented Animal Care Technician to join their team.
- Ensure the health of animals, cleanliness of laboratory/procedure rooms, and functionality of equipment (routine maintenance)
- Maintain a breeding stock of animals and maintain accurate records
- Provide assistance to students in handling animals
- Procure (orders and picks up) food and supplies for laboratory animals
- Transport animals to veterinarian
- Administer medication to animals
- Euthanize animals
- Maintaining accurate records of numbers and types of animals needed by Departments

Minimum
Qualifications & Education:
|
- Elementary school education
- Ability to read, write, and follow basic instructions
- Possess a valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain a Florida driver's license within 30 days of accepting the job, and an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).

Preferred Qualifications:
|
- At least six months of job-related experience.
|
|
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
|
- Knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures in the care of animals
- Ability to handle and provide care to a variety of laboratory animals
- Ability to understand and interpret written and oral instructions
- Ability to maintain records with a high degree of accuracy

Work Schedule:
|
The Animal Care Technician role is a full-time 12-month appointment, scheduled to work 28 hours per week. The schedule for this role is:
- Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 2:30 pm
*Works holidays, overtime, afternoons, and weekends may be required.
|
|
Work Environment:
|
- Works on-campus and in a laboratory.
- Work requires physical strain and with the physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Work requires exposure to noise and odors associated with animals.
|
|
