Position Summary:

  • Troubleshooting malfunctions in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Installing and repairing control systems.
  • Maintaining and repairing gas and gas fired boilers.
  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing motors and contactors.
  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing hot water boilers, cooling towers, and window units.
  • Installing and setting timers and timing devices.
  • Installing and repairing duct work.
  • Maintaining and repairing ice machines, walk-in freezers and walk-in coolers, reach-in refrigerators, reach-in freezers, drinking fountains and ice cream machines.
  • Performing related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • High school education plus two years of additional business, technical or college training or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Requires four to six years of job‑related experience.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment installation, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment needed for major and minor repairs of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose defects and failures of motors and equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work.
  • The position requires driving College vehicles.  Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Heavy chiller experience strongly preferred.

Work Environment

  • Work requires physical strain including bending, lifting, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Overtime may be required as needed.
  • As a condition of employment in this position, the incumbent will be subject to call in outside of regular hours in order to respond to emergencies, including the preparation and maintenance of College facilities, grounds, systems and services during inclement weather crises.
