Job Summary:

The Rollins College Admission Team is seeking a temporary Assistant Admission Counselor to join their team! Reporting the Associate Director of Admission, the Assistant Admission Counselor is responsible for supporting, coordinating the daily visit and event logistics, conducting information sessions, and supporting of recruitment-related outreach in service to enrollment goals for first-time undergraduates in the College of Liberal Arts. The Assistant Admission Counselor will complete tasks associated with admission counselor communication with students, information session, visit experience preparation, extended visit program coordination and execution, operations tasks, and day to day office duties..

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Blue and Gold visit responsibilities include monitoring Slate for new registrations, schedule visits for AT and AA Blue and Gold students (visit liaison handles more extraneous requests), maintained google sheet with class visit offerings, assembled folders with information for students, met students on the day of their visits and review daily schedule, take them from appointment to appointment, follow up with student regarding rescheduled appointments or extraneous request post-visit.
  • DEI Shadow Visit responsibilities including maintain contract with Shadow Hosts, maintain track of Host schedules, monitor Slate form for new registrations, schedule visits based on major and demographic as possible, contact current students with correct major outside of host list when needed to find extra hosts, meet with student’s day of to go over schedule and expectations, provide a point a contact for hosts during the day.
  • Experience Rollins responsibilities including assist with late comers to check-in, provide campus tours as needed, guide families, serve on student panel, assist with Personalize Your Experience scheduling.
  • Daily Visits and Tours responsibilities include setting Wi-Fi password weekly, assist front desk ambassadors with setting up Rinker Room (i.e. signs, waters, TV (slideshows and music), fans, etc. Create TV PowerPoint with names, split tours, assist with tour check-in, deliver information sessions, answer questions afterwards, follow up with prospective and admitted families as needed, give tours as needed, maintain marketing materials in Rinker lobby.
  • Alternate location tour responsibilities include making sure cart is packed with folders, parking validator, business cards, fans, water, and door stop, etc., run check in for alternate locations, assist with coordinating international student meetings and transfer students’ meetings, and assist with diplomat organization.
  • Application review includes being trained to read and review first year application and recommend/render admission decision, interview late applicants/waitlisted students in person who visit campus after their tours and provide summary of experience and interest in Rollins.
  • Office maintenance including inventory of printed materials, organization of work room and lobby closet to accommodate visit folders and other swag items.

Minimum Qualifications & Education:

 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word.
  • High level proficiency in conversational, written, and oral presentation skills.
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
  • Exceptional organizational and time/project management skills with the ability to prioritize, balance, and possess the aptitude for detail oriented tasks.
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a proactive approach to achieving goals and student-centric mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills to represent the College in a positive way to diverse populations.
  • Must have the ability to work independently, as well as with team of colleagues, possessing strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • A commitment to diversity and an ability to work constructively with a variety of constituents.
Preferred 
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of college admission processes and admission experience.
  • Knowledge of Rollins College and Winter Park/Orlando area.

Information:

Anticipated Employment Dates: January 13, 2025 - May 30, 2025

Schedule: The temporary Assistant Admission Counselor will work approximately 30 hours per week, for a total of less than 1,000 hours per year. Scheduled hours per week will depend on operational needs.

Compensation: The hourly pay rate is $16.00. There are no benefits associated with this appointment.

Work Environment:

  • Campus-based, front-facing customer service position, working in an office environment.
  • Work requires visual strain and use of computer.
  • Evenings and weekends as appropriate (i.e.: evening recruitment events, weekend scholarship events, open house events for prospective and admitted students, etc.).
