Position Summary:

The Department of Music at Rollins College is seeking a candidate for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor. The primary responsibilities will be to teach musicology courses to music majors in liberal arts degree programs, and non-music majors at the undergraduate level. In addition to musicology courses, responsibilities may include Department of Music research courses, teaching in the acclaimed general education curriculum, pursuing a program of scholarly research and musicological publication, advising Rollins students, other departmental service needs as required.

The appointee will be expected to: maintain a national and international profile as a scholar of music; demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent, innovative teaching; expand the areas of interest represented in our department; and have the potential to work well with the variety of students in our wide-ranging undergraduate programs. The appointee will also be expected to serve on departmental and faculty committees and participate in faculty governance as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications and Education: 

  • PhD degree in musicology/ethnomusicology at time of appointment.
  • Evidence of scholarly promise.
  • Demonstrated success as an innovative classroom teacher.
  • Commitment to nurturing a broad range of students, as demonstrated through pedagogy, service, and other activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience teaching at the college-level.
  • Specialization in any aspects of nineteenth through twenty-first-century art music and/or expertise in any aspects of global music performance and practice.
