Position Summary:

The Department of Anthropology at Rollins College seeks to hire an adjunct instructor for Spring 2021 to teach Cultural Anthropology. The Department seeks a candidate with a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate anthropology. Qualified applicants will be dedicated to innovative teaching, building relationships with students, and to working with a diverse campus and community.

Teaching responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate students in ANT 200, Cultural Anthropology, a basic introduction to cultural anthropology course
  • Developing and managing the class syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets department and College standards
  • Planning and creating lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments
  • Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams in the Canvas Learning Management System
  • Assessing grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments and examinations
  • In-person teaching is required as part of this appointment

The anthropology department at Rollins College teaches the critical skills students need to live and work in a globally connected world. As our society and economy become increasingly more international, the workforce needs people who are trained to bridge the differences among cultures. Some of the skills that our anthropology graduates gain include cross-cultural awareness, critical thinking and analysis, teamwork and leadership, communication, and the ability to solve pressing social problems. Minimum Qualifications and Education: 

  • Applicants should possess at least a master’s degree in anthropology
  • PhD is preferred
  • Verifiable teaching experience
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have the ability to teach in-person
