Position Summary:

The Center for Leadership & Community Engagement (CLCE) is seeking an Immersion Program Graduate Assistant to join their team. Rooted in the academic mission of Rollins to educate students for global citizenship and responsible leadership, Rollins Immersion is the commitment to engage students, faculty, and staff in communities in Florida and beyond through weekend (and sometimes week-long) experiences of education, reflection, and action.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a Staff Advisor for the Immersion Program in partnership with the CLCE Assistant Director.
    • Support the Immersion Planning Team and Staff through trainings, weekly meetings, and direct supervision of student coordinators.
    • Develop marketing materials and attend events to recruit immersion participants.
    • Collaborate with on-campus stakeholders to develop immersive experiences for specific student organizations, athletics, FSL, etc.
    • Create and collect post-trip surveys and other relevant tools to track program metrics.
    • Cultivate and oversee local service projects after re-orientation in partnership with community-based organizations.
    • Implement program best practices in consultation with Breakaway, Campus Compact, etc.
    • Coordinate opportunities for students to attend relevant professional. development opportunities i.e. Alternative Break Citizenship schools (ABCs).

  • Find one (1) professional development opportunity to attend.
    • Must attend before April 2022. The office will support up to $500 worth of conference fees. A short proposal should include budget information as well as the purpose of the conference and what you plan to bring back to campus as a result.

  • Meet General Office Expectations 
    • Serve as a mentor and resource to all students across campus.
    • Represent CLCE at campus events i.e. first-year orientation, experience Rollins, etc.
    • Assist in supporting, advising, and supervising CLCE student employees.
    • Track participant(s) for all events, initiatives, etc. in the CLCE Dashboard.
    • Assess CLCE programming and complete grant reports.
    • Familiarize yourself with CE Best Practices and Leadership Development theories.
    • Become well-versed in the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
    • Facilitate at least one immersion experience.
    • Conduct and/or attend Community Partner site visit(s).
    • Attend all CLCE Team meetings and retreats (including student retreats).
    • Attend VPSA Trainings and Retreats.
    • Attend “All Hands-on Deck” campus-wide events (may fall on evenings/weekends).
    • Maintain a professional office space and be mindful of shared spaces i.e. cleanliness.
    • Maintain Outlook Calendar and respond to emails in timely, professional manner.
    • Effectively utilize Office 365, Adobe Creative programs, Zoho, Trello, Canva, Foxlink, etc.

Preferred Qualifications and Skill Sets:

  • Pursuing a Masters degree in student personnel/student affairs, counseling, higher education, or related field. *Candidates may be considered if they are pursuing continuing education i.e. certificate programs.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to student involvement, have significant experience in working with diverse populations in a collegiate setting and demonstrate an understanding of student development theory.
  • Creative, self-motivated, self-driven, have a healthy regard for fostering community development, and a passion for working with students.
  • Possess a strong desire to work collaboratively with staff and faculty across campus, be willing to challenge themselves and others in intellectual growth and development.
  • Has a strong interest/experiences in leadership development, community engagement, and social justice.
  • Possess strong facilitation skills and significant experience in leadership education and development.
  • Demonstrate skills in effective communication, supervision, program development with measured results. Demonstrate competence in mentoring and advising.

Education Requirement:

The incumbent must be actively enrolled in a graduate degree seeking program or continuing education in order to qualify for this position and must remain actively enrolled for the duration of their employment in this position. This assistantship is intended for currently enrolled graduate students or continuing education or individuals whose enrollment into a graduate degree program is imminent (E.g. student has been accepted into a graduate degree program and is awaiting the start classes in the immediate future). Incumbent should be seeking an experiential opportunity in their degree field which may or may not be a requirement for graduation.

Position Information:


Anticipated Employment Dates: August 1, 2021 – May 31, 2022 (start date flexible)

  • This position must serve 20 hours per week -> 15 hours per week are in office with an additional 5 hours dedicated to student org meetings/events.


  • Bi-weekly pay rate of $13.50/hr. over the academic semester
  • $500 meal plan for the academic year
  • $500 for professional development opportunities
  • Free campus staff parking privileges
