At Rollins, we believe that value is everything and the Office of Financial Aid is dedicated to providing the tools and resources necessary to help you invest in a Rollins education.

The Office of Financial Aid at Rollins College seeks a financial aid professional at the level of a counselor or associate director depending on qualifications. This position must be skilled in evaluating financial aid applications and identifying all available funding options for students. This includes grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study programs. By maximizing aid packages, this role helps to reduce financial barriers and increases student access to higher education. The Financial Aid Counselor/Associate Director position is a vital function in supporting students and ensuring compliance.

Essential Job Functions

  • Counsels, advises, and awards students and families about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, costs, indebtedness, and many other questions.
  • Use a significant amount of discretion in determining award increases, dependency overrides, and satisfactory academic appeal decisions.
  • Meet with parents and students to discuss financial aid awards.
  • Meet with Service members and other students using VA education benefits to clearly explain all available financial aid options before administering private student loans.
  • Works with the Veteran Service Coordinator to gain a working knowledge of education benefits available to Service members and their families.
  • Confirm and award Veteran Administration Yellow Ribbon awards. Reconciles the award amounts in conjunction with the Rollins VA Certifying Representative.
  • Provide complete explanation and instruction to students regarding the ability to refuse, decline, or adjust the loan amount.
  • Technical lead for data loads, reporting, and running of daily processes.
  • Assist with developing reports within Microsoft Access and Argos which audit financial aid data for accuracy and completeness, ensure compliance, and better predict traffic flow within the office.  
  • Primary website contributor and editor.
  • Assist with reviewing tax returns and other verification documents to determine aid eligibility and make awards within guidelines.
  • Assist with other financial aid activities such as outreach, reporting, and monitoring.
  • Establish and adhere to appropriate disbursal, recordkeeping, reporting, and verification procedures as well as the data entry function necessary to support the programs.
  • Exercise initiative to make recommendations for continual process improvement within the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Identify and recommend changes in processes to better expedite the financial aid process.

Minimum Qualifications
& Education:

  • College degree.
  • A minimum of one year of job-related experience.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University or College.
  • Experience working in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of institution, state, and federal financial aid regulations and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, and grammar.
  • Knowledge and practice of organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven customer service experience and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and software for word processing, spreadsheet, and database management
  • Ability to maintain and update files and records with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze information and exercise sound judgment in determining eligibility for financial aid.
  • Ability to interpret and understand complex instructions and regulations.

Work Environment:

  • Campus-based, front-facing customer service position, working in an office environment.
  • Regular use of a computer and databases.
  • Flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends required for presentations, high school college nights, and information sessions.
