Position Summary:

The Department of Communication at Rollins College, an ACS approved program at a comprehensive liberal arts college, seeks a two-year visiting assistant professor to start August 2021 who can build upon existing curricular strengths of the department. The Department of Communication at Rollins College focuses instruction on the processes of building relationships through shared meaning-making in a variety of contexts, including face-to-face interactions, public speeches, and mediated discourses. We are interested in those candidates who have demonstrated ability to teach general courses in communication (e.g., Introduction to Communication and Research Methods), as well as courses in our concentration in public relations (e.g., Communication Campaigns, Contemporary Public Relations, and/or New Media and Public Relations). The teaching load is eight courses annually with the possibility of summer teaching, if desired.

The Department of Communication offers a major/minor in Communication Studies at Rollins College and a major/minor in Communication Studies in the Hamilton Holt School, the evening program for non-traditional students. Minimum Qualifications and Education: 

  • A Ph.D. in Communication is required.
  • ABD candidates with an expected completion date will be considered.
  • A record of outstanding teaching and a commitment to undergraduate education are required.
  • Applicants whose work incorporates a global perspective and a demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.
