Position Summary:

The Global Languages and Cultures Department at Rollins College invites interested individuals to apply for adjunct faculty positions in German. Qualified applicants will be dedicated to innovative teaching, building relationships, and are welcoming to opportunities that will allow them to work with a diverse campus and community. This is a continuous recruitment effort to develop an applicant pool that can fill in on an as-needed basis. Applications, letters of interest, and other supported materials will be reviewed as positions become available.

The Department of Global Languages and Cultures serves both traditional and non-traditional students. The department is continuously searching for applicants who can teach beginning and intermediate levels of German using innovative teaching methodologies that integrate both language acquisition and cultural awareness.

Teaching responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate students in a specific field of expertise
  • Developing and managing the class syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets department and college standards
  • Planning and creating lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments
  • Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams
  • Assessing grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments and examinations
  • Collaborating with department colleagues on course curriculum
  • Advising students on how to be successful in class
  • Late afternoon and/or evening assignments may be required as part of this appointment

Minimum Qualifications and Education: 

  • Ph.D. or Master’s in the area of teaching
  • Native or near-native fluency in German and English
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in the liberal arts
  • Verifiable teaching experience
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have the ability to teach in-person
