The Latin American and Caribbean Studies program at Rollins College seeks a scholar of Latin American and the Caribbean for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship!
Eligible scholars are those who have earned a doctorate within the last three (3) years in any academic discipline and with a geographical focus on Latin America and/or the Caribbean. Applicants must have PhD in hand by June 1, 2025. The two-year experience is expected to prepare the fellow for a position at a liberal arts college.The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in learning about the rewards and challenges of a career at a liberal arts institution and will be an interdisciplinary teacher/scholar who will integrate Latin American Studies into our liberal arts curriculum while pursuing a significant research agenda in their field. The second year of this position is contingent on a satisfactory performance review at the end of the first year.
The teaching load for this position is three courses each year, one in the fall semester and two in the spring. During the fall semester, the successful candidate is expected to team-teach (with a tenured professor at Rollins) the core course for the Latin American and Caribbean Studies major and minor, LACS 200 Foundations of Latin American and Caribbean Culture and Society. During the spring semester, they will teach another section of LACS 200 and a seminar-style, elective course on a topic of their choice related to Latin America and/or the Caribbean. The successful candidate is also expected to be an active participant in the Latin American and Caribbean Studies program and encouraged to do one or more of the following: work with a Latin American student organization, create and implement campus programming, or organize and co-lead field study experiences. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to deliver a talk on their research on campus. Funding is available to support student-faculty collaborative scholarship experiences.
