Summary:

The Rollins College Athletics Department is accepting applications for a Women's Lacrosse Head Coach! The Head Coach is responsible for all phases of coaching a Varsity Lacrosse program including: administrative duties, recruiting, budget management including the purchasing, caring for and keeping an inventory of all equipment, hiring and supervising assistant coaches. Additional duties include program management, fundraising, planning and scheduling practices, games, transportation, meals, and public relations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for recruiting student-athletes who can contribute to a competitive varsity program
  • Administer the program and allocate grants within the budgetary guidelines set forth by the Athletic Director and Finance Department
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Communications liaison in promoting the Varsity Lacrosse program
  • Create schedule for intercollegiate competition and tournaments
  • Collaborate with the Office/Travel coordinator in organizing all travel arrangements
  • Organize pre-season training and preparation for coaching in practices and games
  • Teach and track the skills of competitive Varsity Lacrosse from the basic fundamentals, to the mental wellbeing aspects necessary for success
  • Continue to improve knowledge of sport, rules and regulations through conventions, clinics, seminars, and self-education
  • Responsible for gameday duties such as equipment handout and collection, filming of games, various statistics on bench, and other miscellaneous functions
  • Guide and support all Varsity Lacrosse student-athletes in all aspects of academics
  • Maintain communication and partner with the team's athletic trainer regarding prevention of injuries, rehabilitation, and the players' health
  • Order, care for, and inventory all equipment
  • Supervise assistant coaches and volunteers
  • Scout opponents in person, by phone calls, and film exchange
  • Promote the Varsity Lacrosse Program and its participants throughout the community
  • Collaborate with Facilities Management and Athletics Operations Manager in maintaining the practice field as necessary

Minimum Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 3 years of related coaching experience.
  • Must be currently certified in CPR, AED, and first aid as required by the NCAA.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain a Florida driver's license within 30 days of accepting the job, and acceptable motor vehicle record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • A proven record of integrity, high principles and demonstrated skill in developing and motivating student athletes academically and athletically.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated success in coaching Varsity Lacrosse, recruitment and retention of student-athletes, and excellent teaching and motivation skills, preferably at the collegiate level
  • Ability to work effectively in the environment of an academically demanding liberal arts institution and abide by all NCAA Division II, Sunshine State Conference and institutional policies
  • Knowledgeable and follow the institution’s sports medicine guidelines
  • Ability to maintain open communication with the athletic trainer and team physician and protect the safety and well-being of their athletes through proper conditioning, skills training, and game conduct

Work Environment:

  • In-person, campus-based position.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during the sports season.
  • Flexible to ever changing schedule and media needs associated with intercollegiate athletics.
